Jake Sundling serves as the Head of Chief Financial Officer Services, Closed End Funds at PINE Advisor Solutions. In this role, he co-leads the CFO Department, which provides outsourced CFO services to private funds. Jake leads the entire team, acting as an expert in fund launches and the daily, monthly, and yearly operations of closed end private funds, ensuring comprehensive financial oversight and strategic guidance for clients.

Jake has been active in the asset management industry since 2011. With expertise in fund accounting and administration, he has held various positions throughout his career. Previously, he served as Fund Accounting Manager at MG Stover & Co., specializing in Digital Asset accounting and administration. Prior to that, he started his career and spent 9 years at ALPS Alternative Investment Services, Inc., where he served in various roles, ultimately landing in the role of Assistant Vice President. There, he was responsible for overseeing the calculation of net asset value for private funds with billions of dollars in assets under administration. He also managed staff, solved complex accounting and operational issues, and regularly engaged with clients. His broad experience allows him to deliver tailored solutions for clients, drawing on a deep understanding of accounting and operational complexities within the alternative investment sector.

Jake earned his degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance from the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado at Boulder, along with a minor in Economics. Outside of work, he enjoys hiking, reading, and spending time with his wife and young daughter.

Tara McClanahan

Tara McClanahan is an Associate Director on the Adviser Compliance Support Services team at PINE providing supervisory oversight of various investment adviser compliance programs. In this capacity, Tara monitors market abuse risk, advises on marketing practices in both domestic and foreign jurisdictions and consults on fund launch services for PINE’s adviser clients. This includes building out policies and procedures specific to each client’s business while considering the ever-changing regulatory environment and conducting ongoing risk assessments that consider a wide range of SEC priorities. Tara serves as the Chief Compliance Officer for a Registered Investment Adviser. All of this is done with a sharp focus on regulatory exam preparedness and new rule rollout.

Tara has been active in the financial services and asset management industry since 2021. She joins PINE from Partners Group where she was on the Regulatory Compliance of the Americas team and operationally responsible for the compliance of all US marketing activities. In law school, Tara was a summer associate at Munro Leys and a Pax Romana extern at an NGO to the United Nations Office in Geneva.

Tara earned her Juris Doctorate from St. Thomas University College of Law in 2020. She has a Bachelor of Arts from Benedictine College graduating with triple majors in French, Theology, and International Studies, with double minors in Economics and Political Science, and a concentration in Sociology. She enjoys restaurant-hopping with her fiancé, playing with her mini-goldendoodle, and visiting family in Montana.

Jess Martin

Jess Martin serves as an Associate Director of Adviser Compliance Support Services at PINE. In this role, she manages compliance programs and regulatory compliance services for a diverse range of State and SEC- Registered Investment Advisers and Exempt Reporting Advisers. In her capacity, Jess provides strategic guidance on the development and implementation of compliance policies and procedures, conducts targeted compliance testing, and delivers comprehensive risk monitoring solutions. She is deeply committed to supporting clients in building and sustaining robust compliance programs, ensuring they remain aligned with industry standards and regulations.

Jess has been active in the financial services and asset management industry since 2007. Prior to joining PINE, she spent a decade at Janus Henderson Investors, where she held various leadership positions within the firm’s compliance and operations functions. During her tenure, Jess managed regulatory filings, corporate actions response management, client reporting, portfolio monitoring, trade surveillance, and was responsible for implementing compliance programs for new account launches. Jess played a pivotal role in creating and streamlining processes for compliance reporting, leveraging her strategic insight to enhance operational efficiency and provide clients with greater transparency and confidence. She began her career at William Blair & Company where she was responsible for reconciling high-profile mutual funds and resolving trade discrepancies.

Jess earned her Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A) in Finance from the University of Iowa, where she also earned an International Business Certificate. She attended Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration through a semester abroad program. Jess earned her Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) with concentrations in Investment Management and Banking from DePaul University. Outside of work, she enjoys skiing, hiking, traveling, and spending time with her family.
