Tim Young serves as an Associate Director of CFO Services at PINE, serving as CFO for and specializing in alternative investment funds. In his role, he collaborates with clients to navigate the complexities of both fund and management company operations. From day-to-day cash management to quarterly and annual reporting, Tim supports the treasury functions, NAV calculations, and financial reporting cycles with accuracy and timeliness —ensuring operational integrity and maintaining exacting standards in service to his clients.

Tim began his career in the alternative investment space in 2006 at Citigroup in Portland, Maine and continued his journey with GlobeOp Financial Services and Stone Coast Fund Services. Along the way, he worked with a diverse portfolio of clients in managing their regular fund accounting and financial reporting processes, in addition to working in central support functions both as a business analyst and dedicated Data & Reporting team. The time spent supporting the operations of alternative investment vehicles such as hedge funds and private equity funds has built a powerful base knowledge that will allow for strong, long-term relationships with fund managers that provide clients with value, expertise, and partnership. Tim attended the University of Maine and earned a Bachelor of Science with a dual concentration in Finance & International Business.

Beyond the investment industry, Tim has been a registered yoga teacher since 2019, enjoying both the mental and physical benefits of dedicated practice and a focus on personal health. Outside of work and the yoga studio, he spends time enjoying the diverse nature of New England, whether it be walking on the rocky coastline or hiking to the mountain summits for sunrise.

Daniel Hess

Daniel Hess is a Director on the Principal Financial Officer (PFO) Services team at PINE serving as PFO, Treasurer and/or Assistant Treasurer for a variety of SEC-registered investment funds. In this role, he serves clients by reviewing financial reports and regulatory filings, coordinating annual audits, managing fund expenses and distributions, reporting to oversight boards and overseeing fund administrators and other providers.

Dan has been active in the investment fund industry since 2001 after spending several years at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. He previously held positions with U.S. Bancorp Asset Management, U.S. Bancorp Global Fund Services, PFM Asset Management and PFM Fund Distributors. He has experience overseeing both internal and external mutual fund accounting, administration and other service teams. He has held various roles as a broker/dealer Financial and Operations Principal, as Treasurer and Secretary of several SEC-registered investment funds, and as principal financial officer for numerous local government investment pools. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting with a minor in Management Information Systems from Pennsylvania State University. He is a licensed CPA in Pennsylvania, and currently holds FINRA series 6, 26, 28, 63, 99 and SIE licenses and previously held a series 51 license.

In his personal time, Dan enjoys traveling and spending time outdoors hiking, kayaking and boating with his wife and their three children and dog. He also is an Eagle Scout and volunteers as a leader with his sons’ scout troop.

Jess Martin

Jess Martin serves as Associate Director of Adviser Compliance Support Services at PINE. In this role, she manages compliance programs and regulatory compliance services for a diverse range of State and SEC- Registered Investment Advisers and Exempt Reporting Advisers. In her capacity, Jess provides strategic guidance on the development and implementation of compliance policies and procedures, conducts targeted compliance testing, and delivers comprehensive risk monitoring solutions.

Jess has been active in the financial services and asset management industry since 2007. Prior to joining PINE, she spent 10 years at Janus Henderson Investors, where she held various leadership positions within the firm’s compliance and operations functions. During her tenure, Jess managed regulatory filings, corporate actions response management, client reporting, portfolio monitoring, trade surveillance, and was responsible for implementing compliance programs for new account launches. She began her career at William Blair & Company where she was responsible for reconciling high-profile mutual funds and resolving trade discrepancies. Jess earned her Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A) in Finance from the University of Iowa, where she also earned an International Business Certificate. She earned her Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) with concentrations in Investment Management and Banking from DePaul University.

Outside of work, she enjoys skiing, hiking, traveling, and spending time with her family.
