Bio

Michelle Marcano-Johnson serves as Fund Chief Compliance Officer for PINE’s clients and oversees regulatory compliance programs.

Michelle has been active in the asset management industry since 1991. Her career spans all three lines of defense, with experience in fund accounting, internal audit, regulatory examinations, and regulatory compliance. She has led the development and oversight of compliance programs for a registered investment adviser, mutual funds, and a retirement plan recordkeeper. Prior to joining PINE in 2025, Michelle held senior leadership roles as Head of Corporate Compliance at Janus Henderson Investors and Vice President of Corporate Compliance at Empower.

Michelle brings a practical, solutions-oriented approach to regulatory change management, risk assessments, document management, vendor due diligence, and training—delivering customized compliance programs that support clients in staying compliant, confident, and positioned for growth.

She is a Certified Securities Compliance Professional (CSCP®) and attended the University of Northern Colorado. Outside of work, Michelle enjoys traveling, exploring new restaurants, solving puzzles, and spending time with her family.
